Tamarindo, Costa Rica

Getting to Tamarindo

From Liberia Airport (LIR) to Tamarindo is a straightforward 65–75 km (40–47 mile) trip that usually takes 1–1.5 hours by road.

Main options:

•  Private shuttle ($90–$140 per vehicle): Door-to-door service; the driver meets you at arrivals. Best for comfort, families, or groups.

•  Shared shuttle ($30–$55 per person): Scheduled vans that take 1.5–2 hours with possible stops. Good budget-friendly choice for solo travelers or couples.

•  Taxi ($80–$160): Available outside arrivals; agree on the fare first. Similar time to a private transfer.

•  Rental car ($40–$90+/day plus fuel): Maximum flexibility for exploring the area; the drive is easy on paved roads.

Most people prefer a pre-booked private or shared shuttle for a smooth arrival. Prices vary by season and group size.

Where to Stay

Stay Near the Celebration!

We’ll be staying at Villa Paraiso, where the wedding will also take place, and we recommend staying in central Tamarindo or somewhere near Tamarindo Beach so you’ll be close by. Villa Paraiso is just a few minutes from downtown by car, making it easy to come by to our place.

There are lots of great places to stay nearby, from beachfront hotels and smaller boutique properties to vacation rentals. A few options to consider are Hotel Tamarindo Diria, Jardin del Eden, Capitán Suizo, Ten North, and The Coast Beachfront Hotel.

We recommend arranging transportation to and from Villa Paraiso, as there is no parking available at the villa.
